Pearl Restringing

As pearls are unique, they require special care. Even good, white, silk stringing string wears out over time. Knots eventually stretch out, abrade, fade, and get dirty. Let Calla Gold restring your pearls with new white knots next to your pearls. Restringing will secure your precious little gemstones, and the contrast enhances their beauty. » Read: Pearls Must Be Knotted

  3. Hello, I have a ring that ended up in the garbage disposal and has lost both its diamonds. It’s a promise ring that my husband gave me 10 years ago and it’s killing me that I can’t wear it. Is there anything we would be able to do with it?

I have a ring I love to wear, but it needs to be re-rodium plated. Can you make this repair?

  5. Hello I have an 18k plated ring that my grandmother gave to me and I am really wanting to be able to use it for my own engagement ring. Would you be able to replate it? Maybe to a white gold look.

    • Hi Patricia,
I regularly rhodium plate white items that have been yellow. Since this is a plated item I would recommend against using it as an engagement, daily wear ring. This advice is assuming that the ring is plated because the metal underneath is base metal and not gold or platinum.
Costume jewelry and the metal it is made of does not hold up well to daily wear. No matter how much it means and how much we love the style, it will break down. Have you considered having a real white gold replica made of this ring she gave you? We have done this a number of times in the past and it is a viable solution to creating a daily wear ring and keeping intact the loving connection to the previous piece.
      Your Personal Jeweler,

  6. I repair and rejevenate antique hatpins, many have faux pearls 100 yrs old. Is there any way to repair the faux exterior with a material that will look close to the original, or fix some peeling with some kind of composite. This is wholly for cosmetic purposes and used for display.

    • Hello Vicki,
When I work on vintage and antique jewelry with seed pearls whether real or faux I use real pearls to do the replacement. I have found no one who supplies the tiny pearls in fake. I know of no liquid or material to fix the surface of older faux pearls.
      Your Personal Jeweler,

  7. My wedding ring is getting worn on the back of the ring. Can you build up the band more.

  8. I have a tanzanite and opal inlay ring that I dropped on the hardwood floor and a piece of the opal inlay cracked out of the ring – can you repair it?

  9. I have my mother’s wedding band which is actually two bands that have been soldered together. It is 14k gold filled. It’s worn and it’s easy to see that two rings have been made into one on a section of the ring. I would love to have this ring fixed up so that it appears to be one ring and the gold isn’t spotty and uneven looking. Can you do this? Would I be able to wear it often without doing harm to it if it can be fixed up? It’s a size 7 and 1/2” in width. I would love to wear this ring but it just doesn’t look nice. Thank you!

  10. Hello,

I have some glass leaf beads that have brass hoops attached, but I would like the wire part to be rose gold. I am wondering if you do that, and also, what is the cost for the service and the time it takes to do it?

Thank you very much for your help!

  11. Hello,

I bought a ring that I would like re-shanked with sterling silver into a Women’s size 6.5. The place I bought it from has used a metal which rusts up the band within 2 months of daily usage. Would it be possible for you to re-shank my ring with a durable, daily usage metal (silver colored)?

Please let me know if it’s possible, a quote on how much it would cost, and how long it would take.

    Thank you so much!

    • Hello Sravanthi,
How distressing to have a metal that rusts on the finger. I do not know what that metal would be or if I could even solder my silver to it successfully.

  12. Hello,
I was wondering if you are able to re-plate rose gold. I have a ring and earrings with cz’s and a couple watches that I would like to have refurbished. If so, about how much would it cost per item?

  13. I am interested in having the finger mate hinge put in some of my rings. Can you do that with an eternity band?

  14. Hi,
I bought a Aquamarine and diamond ring as an anniversary gift to myself. I wore it to work while knowingly working with chemicals. I wear latex gloves for protection(so I thought), I noticed one day that the Aquamarine was cloudy. Not as pretty and vibrant as it once was. I’ve tried cleaning it and nothing seems to be doing the trick. Which resulted in me not wearing it anymore and being very disappointed. Is there a way it can be fixed? Get that shine back that it once had? Or is it ruined now? Thanks!

  15. Hi Calla,
Would you be able to re-plate a vintage piece bracelet in yellow or white gold for me? Thank you!

  16. I have two silver ring bands, one needs to be resized down, the other up.

Do you have a standard charge or list of charges?

    • Hi Lexi,
There isn’t a standard price list as factors like width of shank, how many sizes you need changed, designs that would be affected by the sizing, gemstones whose settings would be altered because of the sizing and other details affect the amount of time and material that would be charged for. I like to physically see the rings or see pictures of the rings.
I specialize in sizing simple to complex rings and would be happy to help.
      Your Personal Jeweler,

  17. I am allergic to my white-gold wedding set, so I was wearing it on my other hand until the stone fell out! Are you able to plate it in Rhodium and replace the stone with Moissanite?

    • Hi Renee,
I have rhodium plated rings for allergic clients. They seem happy with the result. I can also set a moissanite gem in your empty mounting. You can call my office if you’d like at 805-963-4157. That’s not a texting number I should add.
      Your Personal Jeweler,

  18. I have small, simple, cheap earrings which I like very much for everyday wear and CANNOT find replacements. Is it possible for you to replace the yellow gold plating on them?

    • Hello Carik,
It depends if your earrings include glue set ‘gems’ and if the ‘gems’ are able to withstand the plating acidic bath. Another factor would be whether they were made without materials we can’t plate on like plastic, lead, cadmium and aluminum.
If you’d like to send pictures that may help to establish their platability. Ultimately I do a test area when they are with me to see if they can be plated.
