Costume Jewelry Ring into the Real Thing and Why You Should
Costume jewelry is still jewelry, till you can’t wear it anymore. Do you really love a costume jewelry ring you have? Maybe it was something you bought on a whim and fell in love with it?
Did you get a lot of compliments on it? Did you have to stop wearing it after wearing it so much it started turning green?
That Guilty Pleasure, Your Costume Jewelry Ring
If so, then this probably means that the ring was a great look, style and shape for your hand. I can tell you that you don’t have to part ways with your beloved costume jewelry! If you’ve found a style of jewelry that is becoming on you, regardless of what it’s made of, you can use it as an opportunity to re-make your costume jewelry into real jewelry!
Finding a Ring That Really Works isn’t Easy
Have you ever purchased an expensive fine jewelry ring from a store that you thought you loved, but once you started wearing it you realized you didn’t like it all that much? Maybe it wasn’t that comfortable or maybe it was really pretty, but gave your finger muffin top, or made your hand look bony or something equally wrong. Buying expensive rings isn’t a guarantee that their style will work for you.
With your beloved, yet funky metal costume ring that you loved till you couldn’t wear it anymore, you’ve already seen day after day how much you liked that design. That ring was comfortable and you felt pretty in it.
Other people may have commented on how nice it was. That ring has already proven that it is loved. I think it’s a worthwhile investment to make, to replicate that design in fine metal and real gemstones. Once you have made it real you can continue to enjoy wearing your ring for years to come!
From Costume Jewelry to Real Jewelry
I want to share with you a story from one of my clients who turned her ring made of costume jewelry into real jewelry. As it turned out, transforming her ring had some unexpected benefits. Check it out!

What a great idea to re-use the design of costume jewelry items that work well for you. Not only a stroke of genius in the jewelry department, but also in other areas. I have some earrings that definitely could be duplicated. Thanks Calla, my personal jeweler.
Hi Amy,

I have a costume ring that my sister gave to me many years ago. I wore it until it broke. I kept the part with the faux gems in it for years and just about a year ago, I finally threw it away. I wish I had thought of this idea you shared with us about remaking it into a real gemstone ring. It was really stunning. Next time, I will remember this.
Hello Lisa,
Hopefully by writing this someone will catch that unworn costume piece that they loved before it gets thrown away. Perhaps they’ll make it real and love it always.
Thank you for telling me about your special piece of costume jewelry from your sister.

I have “c hallenging” hands and fingers-large hands, large fingers, large knuckles-and this article made me realize that one reason I am so fond of my cheapie ring is that I like the way it looks on my hand. It is slim and delicate. One day I will have you make it into a “real boy.”
Hi Sherrill,
I’d love to make your costume ring into a real boy. That’d be pretty cool!

I have a ring that I love the style so much that I don’t want to give it up Even though it’s changing colors.
Now I want to take my ring to the next step by providing real gold that I have, getting it melted down into the design of my costume ring at every measure and using the middle design of my fake ring in the real gold
Hi Hilda,
That is wonderful that you have a design in costume that you love so much. It makes great sense to have it made in gold. Let me know if you need any help with that.

I’d love to have my 11yr old $15 jc penny “engagement” ring made in to a real piece. We have been through so much together (my husband, the ring and I ) I love it so much but it’s broken where it was sized on the bottom. It means so much to me I’d love to have it made with metal a little thicker or more sturdy. Can you message me?
Hello Norma,
I emailed you. I’d be delighted to help you with your project.

Hello John,
