Alloy: Jewelry Definition
Alloy or alloys, in jewelry making, are created when two or more metals are combined to form a new type of metal with different characteristics.
The new metal may be harder, have a different color, or be different in some other way.
Example:
14 karat gold is an alloy made of 58% gold with 42% other metals such as copper, silver, or zinc.
