Dear Calla – Edgy Wedding Rings Please

Dear Calla Gold

Dear Calla,

In this filigree girly world, I’m a strong, physical kind of gal, and when I try on the styles of today my finger laughs at me and muffin tops over the thin straight bands.

I’m kinda Goth to boot and that’s workin for me and my baby. But all these prissy engagement rings are making me puke.

Where is a Goth girl to get her “love hurts” ring on? Seriously.

Love Hurts

Thorn ring
Dear Hurts,

Don’t let all that foo-fa-roo make you think you can’t be a bride with attitude. Because you sure can. To start with do you know about black rhodium? It’s a finish I put on rings that gives it quite the rock and roll vibe. I did a ring with a black rhodium finish for the drummer of a death metal band. But you don’t have to tour to wear black rhodium.

I could kick myself for not taking pictures of my work early on. I did a ring for Irish, Goths. We had the heart in the hands with a rose and the winding vine with thorns. Anyway I dig the thorn look. I recently did a wedding set in white gold with black rhodium and rubies. Perhaps this will inspire you to see non-thin, non-straight band rings as an idea you could live with.

What a fun design, and I love that you can do “goth”. So creative!
