How Google Images Can Help You Design Your Wedding Ring

Your Vision, It’s Perfect

Have you ever designed something in your mind, but couldn’t describe it adequately to someone else? Like a wedding ring! Mere words can’t always express the details that we’ve conjured up in our minds.

How Do You Translate Your Vision to Your Jeweler?

When designing a wedding ring though, it’s vitally important to impart this information to your jeweler. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? This is where Google can help.

Lord Google to the Rescue

Google images how to picture

Google Images Searches For the Pictures I Need to Communicate Details. I love this tool!  They move around the place for images. When in doubt just Google, “Google Images!”

Google has accumulated millions and millions of pictures and stored them for public viewing at “Google Images”.

Simply log onto to Google, and click on the “Images” tab at the top left of the page.

Type into the new search box that appears, what you’re looking for. Over four million images came up the last time I entered “wedding ring”!

Refining Your Search

Look for particular examples of details you’re interested in among the pictures.  Modify your search for more options. For example, enter “engraved wedding bands” to see pictures of different engraving styles. The possibilities are many!

Capturing Your Favorite Details

By clicking on an image, you’ll be able to expand the picture to “full size” on the next page and print it out. By “right clicking” on an image, you’ll be provided with a pull down menu of other options. By choosing “send to…” you’ll be able to email the image to your jeweler—like me!—for his or her consideration in helping you design your ring.

What Helps Me as a Jewelry Designer to Help You

Another option is to “copy” the images to a folder on your computer. You might do this every time you find an image with details you admire and that you want to use in your own custom design. When you visit your Jeweler, bring the folder of printed out images. Write on each page with arrows showing exactly what you like about each element.

Video of a Design Element You Might Like

This video shows an example of a detail, milgrain, you might want to consider in your custom jewelry design. This is the sort of design detail that you may find in your Google image searches for elements you like. A picture of this detail would go a long way in communicating your taste to your jeweler.

Good luck and Happy Designing!

Lord Google sure can do just about anything! What a great idea, Calla!
