“The most important thing in the world is family and love.” ~ John Wooden
Nicknamed the “Wizard of Westwood”, John Wooden was a basketball player and later head coach at the University of California at Los Angeles. What makes his reign as head coach so impressive is the fact that he won 10 NCAA national championships in a 12-year period. No other team in the US has won more than two championships in a row, and he was able to win 7 in a row. He was also named Head Coach of the Year, six times!
Wooden died at the age of 99 years old. His legacy is the love of the game, and the numerous players that he helped to guide. In his personal life, Wooden’s devotion to his wife, even after her death, was visible as he would write her love letters even after her death.
